Dangers of Propping Bottle vs. Feeding With Mothers 3rd Arm

Out of all the places throughout the world, all of us humans have found ourselves propping the bottle of a baby upon a pillow or some other material or device in order to free us up to do other things. Infact we have been so obsess with the idea that some have creating contraptions that are down right scary looking, but achieves the purpose as shown here:

And get this: It's not anything new!

When I first saw this wire-propping contraption I was shocked! But then I had to think of those times when I was baby sitting one of my younger sisters for my mother. She had simply gone out to the market for an hour. I found myself molding some sweaters and shirts in a manner to hold their bottle so I could study.

Reflecting on this, I realized that I really could not be so critical. It may look more scarier and dangerous then my bottle propping, but in truth, I had to recognize that either way was just as harmful.

Being a mother of two children myself, as well as a doctor who has examined thousands of pregant women over the years, I personally believe that it is extremely important for not only the mother to spend time to personally feed their babies directly, but fathers as well. Infact, there is an evolutionary bonding that takes place during feeding and its only possible through feeding.

Nevertheless, as important as personal-direct feeding is, it is just as important for us parents to take care of other things such as attending to our older children; shopping; exercising; cleaning; working; making errands and the many other things that we each popping up daily in our lives. And whatever we do, please let's not pretend that there are not sometimes equally important things to do right along with feeding our babies.

No matter what country, culture, religion or people, evidence shows that at one point or another in all of our lives, our parents or other caretakers fed us by propping our bottle upon something so they could actually be free to do something else. This motivation in and of itself is not a negative or bad thing, what is a negative is that it can produce anything from choking to actual death and is what makes this article so vital.

The most common theme children doctors will mention when it comes to question of propping baby bottles up on something to feed them, is that the milk will settle in the child's mouth and cause tooth decay and other mouth born ailments
